We appreciate the opportunity to provide you with medical services. The specialty of Gastroenterology encompasses diseases of the digestive system, gallbladder, liver and pancreas as well as clinical aspects of nutrition. Our Physicians are Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.

Gastroenterologists are not surgeons, but they do perform diagnostic studies such as colonoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, and gastroscopy, as well as more specialized procedures.

Michael N. Eppel, M.D.

Dr. Eppel was born in Dublin, Ireland and received his medical education at Dublin University, Trinity College. Following an internship and one year of postgraduate training there, he completed an Internal Medicine residency at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He did his fellowship in Gastroenterology at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. Before moving to Lincoln, he was in private practice in upstate New York. Dr. Eppel is Board Certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine. In 1996 he was honored by his peers by being elected a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology and has served as the Nebraska Governor of the College.

 

David D. Lee, M.D.

Dr. Lee grew up in the northwestern part of Wyoming. He received his undergraduate education at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln and his medical degree at the University of Nebraska College of Medicine in Omaha. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Texas A&M Health Sciences Center in Temple, Texas where he also did his gastroenterology fellowship. Dr. Lee specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of digestive and liver diseases in adults and is fully trained in all aspects of endoscopy. He enjoys golf and fishing and spending time with his wife and two children.

 

Denise L. Speich, ARNP

Denise L. Speich was born in Lincoln, Nebraska. She received her bachelor of science degree in Nursing from the University of Nebraska Medical Center, College of Nursing in Lincoln, Nebraska. She worked for thirteen years as a Registered Nurse primarily on a medical/oncology unit. Her Masters of science in Nursing in the Adult Health Nurse Practitioner Program was completed at the University of Nebraska in Omaha, Nebraska. Denise is Board Certified as an Adult Nurse Practitioner. In her spare time she enjoys cooking and spending time with her husband and two children and their activities. She is also very involved in her church.
